“Project Rescue Me” was instituted following several tragedies in the Midland/Odessa
area that resulted in the loss of life where the victim had no identification. Big Country
RAC has adopted the “Project Rescue Me” program.

A number is assigned to each person registered and entered into a database along with
pertinent information in case of emergency. A corresponding numbered tag is then given
to the person and may be worn as a necklace, bracelet or tied into shoelaces. “Project
Rescue Me” is not only for children but can be utilized by the seniors of our community as
well. They are designed for anyone who jogs, bikes or has some sort of medical
condition.

The database is accessible 24 hours a day. Should tragedy strike, any Law Enforcement
Officer or hospital personnel may call 1-877-577-7879, give the operator the number
from the tag and instantly know the identity of the victim as well as information regarding
next of kin and essential medical history. Information is only available to Law
Enforcement and hospital personnel.
